Presidential decree approves Egypt’s accession to Aircraft Equipment Protocol

CAIRO: Outgoing interim president Adly Mansour issued presidential decree Saturday approving Egypt’s accession to the Protocol to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment on Matters Specific to Aircraft Equipment, Youm7 reported.

The protocol, signed in Cape Town Nov.  16, 2001 and awaiting cabinet approval until Saturday, aims to meet the funds required for purchasing aircraft as well as to expand the scope of the convention to include sales contracts of aircraft equipment, Ambassador Ihab Badawi, spokesman for the presidency, said in a Saturday press statement.

Badawi added that both the convention and protocol are known as “The Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment on Matters Specific to Aircraft Equipment, ” according to the provisions of Article 2 of the protocol.

The protocol organizes the application of the convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment on sales contracts, procedures required for sales contracts, procedures which will be taken in case of non-compliance with the provision of the agreement, provisions of Registration on International Interests in Aircraft Equipment and the relationship between the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment and other international conventions, such as the Convention on the International Acknowledgment of Rights on Aircraft, Convention on the  Precautionary Seizure of Aircraft and the Convention on International Financial Leasing, Badawi said in the press statement.
