CAIRO: Germany’s new ambassador to Egypt, Hansjörg Habar, has arrived in Cairo to take over as a successor for Michael Bock. Haber recently met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy, according to a press release from the German embassy.
Haber served previously as ambassador to Lebanon, worked as head of press and information for the Germany embassy in Russia, and as a political advisor in Germany’s embassy in Turkey.
Haber expressed his intention to work with his Egyptian partners and said that Egypt and Germany have close economic and cultural ties. He discussed the important role Egyptians play in German society as doctors, scientists, businessmen and artists.
Haber said that Germany also offers important contributions in the Egyptian economic and education sectors along with the cultural scene. The German Ambassador expressed his wish that Egypt makes progress towards stability and democracy following three years of political changes.
He said that on this basis, his country can best develop its relations with Egypt.
