CAIRO: Minister of Environment Laila Iskander will attend World Environment Day celebrations in coordination with Arab Office for Youth and Environment (AOYE) and Arab Network for Environment and Development (RAED), the ministry announced in press statement Tuesday.
Different environment day celebrations will be held from June 14-17 in El-Gouna City in the Red Sea governorate. They aim to honor a number of figures in Egypt concerned with environmental practices and who participated in activating sustainable development.
The ministry chose Gouna because it was named as an environmentally friendly city and the events will start after a conference attended by Arab Ministries of Environment.
An exhibition about environmental investment will also be held in that period in addition to other various events in the field of clean energy technology.
The ministry will also organize another celebration for environment day that will include cleaning campaigns and planting trees in addition to different contests by the University of Beni Suef.
Governor of Fayoum Hazem Attiatullah witnessed Wednesday the celebration of World Environment Day and called for confronting global warming, according to Al-Wafd.
He stressed on the importance of environmental awareness programs for youths in schools and universities.
The Ministry of Youths organized Wednesday a training program in Gezira Civil Education Center for environment day, according to Youm7.
The program will continue until June 7 with the participation of 170 youths from environmental groups, where they will attend workshops about recycling and global warming.
