CAIRO: Unidentified militants on a motorcycle threw a homemade bomb at a security checkpoint in the vicinity of El-Qobba presidential palace in Hadayeq el-Qobba early Saturday morning, without any casualties or damages, reported Youm7.

Head of Cairo Security Directorate Ali Demerdash examined the site of the explosion and inspected the security situation in the region.

Following the dispersal of the pro-Muslim Brotherhood Rabaa al-Adaweya and Nahda Square sit-ins in August 2013, security checkpoints have witnessed frequent attacks.
