A few hours after submitting the resignation of Mahlab’s interim cabinet, Sisi reinstated him, asking to form the new government, Youm7 reported.
“I will take the required time to form the government,” Mhalab said, noting in remarks to state-owned newspaper al-Ahram that the new government will be able to bring the state the prestige and to provide security.
Mahlab, 65, immediately started consultations to choose the new Cabinet ministers. Sources told Youm7 that one-third of the cabinet will be reshuffled.
Mahlab’s new Cabinet is the first government formed after the transitional period that ended with Sisi’s swear-in as Egypt’s new president.
“It is an honor for me and the Cabinet to submit your presidency our resignation to leave the path for a new appropriate choice to serve the nation and complete the benefits in the upcoming period,” Mahlab’s resignation of the last interim government read.
