June 21: Tahrir Lounge and REACT celebrate UN Public Service Day

CAIRO: Tahrir Lounge at the Goethe Institute and the REACT organization of Ain Shams University’s Faculty of Languages (Faculty of Al-Alsun) will celebrate the U.N. Public Services Day Saturday at Cairo University.

The event is scheduled to host several public figures, including actor Khaled Abu el-Naga, broadcaster Mohamed Khedr, Saeed el-Mougy, a “munshid” (Sufi religious chanter) and Mostafa Nofal, a marathoner and former professional athlete.

Whirling dervishes will also perform a “tanoura” dance.

The U.N. Public Service Day was designated by the U.N. General Assembly in 2003 to “celebrate the value and virtue of public service to the community.”
