CAIRO: The Saudi Royal Diwan announced that King of Saudi Arabia Abdullah Ibn Abdul-Aziz will visit Egypt Friday during his return to his country from Morocco, Saudi Press Agency reported Friday.
The Egyptian presidency announced in a statement Friday that President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi will receive Abdul-Aziz at Cairo Airport. Sisi will meet with Abdel-Aziz at the airport and then will hold an individual meeting at the presidential lounge.
Saudi Arabia and other gulf countries like Kuwait and Emirates offered financial aid to Egypt after the June 30 Demonstrations in 2013, estimated at billions of dollars.
Saudi Arabia also supported Egypt when it followed its decision of designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a “terrorist organization.”
Sisi who won the presidential elections by a landslide had said in his TV interviews during the presidential campaign period that the first external visit of him would be to Saudi Arabia.
