CAIRO: Saudi Arabian King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz just arrived at Cairo International Airport coming from Morocco on his way to his home country to meet President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi at the airport Friday for a short visit to Egypt, State TV reported Friday.

Sisi went to Abdul Aziz’s plane upon his arrival to receive him and will meet Abdul Aziz at the plane meeting room, Youm7 reported.

Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab, defense minister Sedky Sobhy, and Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Egypt Ahmed Qatan accompanied them both in the meeting.

The official delegation accompanying the king includes Saudi foreign minister Saud bin Faisal, secretary general of the National Security Council Bandar bin Sultan, advisor of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Turki bin Abdullah bin Muhammad, and financial minister Ibrahim Abdul Aziz Al-Assaf.

Sisi arrived by helicopter, while the republic guards were deployed all around the airport.

Saudi Arabia and other gulf countries like Kuwait and United Arab Emirates offered financial aid to Egypt after the June 30 Demonstrations in 2013, estimated at billions of dollars.

Saudi Arabia also supported Egypt when it followed its decision of designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a “terrorist organization.”
