CAIRO: The Egyptian Foreign Ministry called on Israel to exercise self-restraint and stop its vengeful collective punishment policy against Palestinian people, according to a Tuesday press statement.

The Ministry’s statement came after the the dead bodies of three Israeli teenagers missing since June 12 were found in the West Bank city of Hebron.

The ministry called on Israel to give the Palestinian authorities the opportunity to carry out their responsibilities, track down the culprits and bring them to justice.

The ministry follows up on the latest developments in Palestinian territories and made intensive regional and international efforts to protect Palestinian people, prevent any Israeli reprisals that could kill innocent civilians and make the matter worse, the statement reads.

“Egypt persists on its rejection to any form of violent act that would take innocent lives on both sides,” the ministry stressed.

Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman called on Israel to launch a ‘Defensive Shield’ operation against the Gaza Strip in order to deliver a crippling blow to Gaza which is dominated by the Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas”, adding that Hamas aims to take control of Palestinian Authority and the West Bank, after the establishment of a Palestinian unity government, Jerusalem Post reported Tuesday.

“Hamas is responsible, it will pay and continue to pay,” the Israeli prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu said Tuesday, accusing Hamas of being responsible for the kidnapping and killing of the three Israeli teens found in Hebron, according to Jerusalem Post.

Israel bombed dozens of sites in the Gaza Strip Tuesday after the bodies of the three Israeli teens were found.
