CAIRO: The committee tasked with the re-demarcation of the borders between governorates has agreed to create three new governorates: Central Sinai, El-Alamein and El-Wahat El-Bahariya, Youm7 reported Friday.

The proposed new governorates will be discussed by the cabinet and submitted to President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi in order for him to issue a presidential decree for their creation. Sisi campaigned on a platform that included establishing new governorates

Also, Minister of Local Development Adel Labib said in press statements Wednesday that there will be a re-shuffle of governors during the current month of Ramadan.

After finalizing the re-demarcation of the borders, each governorate will have enough desert land to allow urban expansion and preserve current agricultural areas, a source from the Ministry of Local Development told Youm7.
