CAIRO: The Cabinet has decided to increase prices of fuel as of midnight Saturday ranging from .70 EGP to .75 EGP ($.04-.05) per liter, Al Shorouq news reported Friday.
The outlet cited an anonymous source, who added that the increase in the diesel price would be .70 EGP, raising the overall price per liter to 1.8 EGP, and gasoline of octane number 92 would be sold for 2.6 EGP per liter with an increase of .75 EGP.
The deputy of head of Petroleum Authority for operations Eng. Amr Mostafa denied the increase in prices of fuel, however, adding that any increase would not happen during the month of Ramadan, which ends at the end of July, Youm7 reported last Sunday.
Minister of Petroleum Sherif Ismail announced Friday that there would be an increase in fuel prices soon, but did not determine the amount of increase, following a meeting with representatives of taxi and microbuses drivers, Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab and the Minister of Petroleum.
