CAIRO: The Renewable Energy Committee in Alexandria, Green Energy Solutions Company (GESC) and Freedom Renewable Energy announced Sunday at a press conference the establishment of the first solar energy plant generating power for a clothes factory in Smouha, Alexandria, according to the GESC official website.
Alexandria Governor Tarek al-Mahdy inaugurated the project.
The solar power plant will operate with the “ON GRID” system, the first time it has been used in Egypt in the private commercial and industrial sector.
It uses a grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) system, which uses PV modules to convert sunlight into electricity and feeds power directly into the national grid without battery storage. The project is being implemented in cooperation with Alexandria Company for Distributing Electricity and West Delta Electricity Production, Youm7 reported Sunday.
