CAIRO: 14 Palestinians killed and more than 90 injured in the Gaza strip during an Israeli attack, ONTV reported.

A recent statement by the Israeli army stated Tuesday that Israeli soldiers killed four Palestinian gunmen who slipped into southern Israel by sea through the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, Reuters reported.

In Rafah City, North Sinai, citizens said that they can hear Israeli air strikes on the Palestinian side of Rafah and other areas.

Security sources in the Rafah crossing told Youm7 that they announced a state of emergency between the Gaza Strip and Egypt. He added that hospitals in the Sinai Peninsula were notified earlier to remain in a state of readiness in anticipation of any emergency as well as being prepared to offer medical aid, all injured Palestinians are currently allowed to enter Sinai for medical treatment.

The source added that they expect that many injured Palestinians will need to be transferred to Sinai hospitals.

Israeli forces carried out a series of air raids in the Gaza Strip on the dawn of Sunday. The situation escalated between the two parties in the past week and there were violent riots following the death of one Palestinian teen and the discovered corpses of three Israeli teens.
