CAIRO: A missile has targeted an area near a military camp in Sheikh Zuweid of North Sinai, Youm7 reported.

Security forces in al-Zohour camp opened fire intensively after the incident; no causalities have been reported.

The local residents were terrified due to the explosion caused by the missile, according to eye witnesses.

Sheikh Zuweid is 92.1 km away from Gaza strip which has been under Israeli strikes for ten days after Israel found the bodies of three kidnapped Jewish settlers in the West Bank. Israel and Hamas since then have exchanged firing missiles.

Many jihadists launched attacks on the military camps in Sheikh Zuweid after the dispersal of the Rabaa al-Adawyia square sit-ins where pro-Muslim Brotherhood were protesting the ouster of former Islamist President Mohamed Morsi on July 3, 2013.

On July 2, three jihadists were killed in villages located in south Sheikh Zuweid, where the jihadist groups are active. On June 28, four conscripts from the Central Security Soldiers were killed, all under-21.
