CAIRO: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi invited a number of prominent businessmen to an iftar party Sunday at Ithadeya presidential palace, Youm7 reported.

Sisi previously met with more than 15 businessmen Wednesday to discuss the economic future of the country, and asked them for suggestions to develop fiscal policy.

At the Wednesday meeting, Sisi said he had to lift subsidies on energy prices to fix the budget deficit left by the government of former President Mohamed Morsi.

The businessmen called for several initiatives during the Wednesday meeting. They agreed to hold another meeting soon to discuss ways to support the economy and attract foreign investors.

Present at the Wednesday meeting were Naguib Sawiris, Mohamed al-Amin, Ahmad Abu Hashima, Mohamed Farid Khamis and Mohamed Abu Alenin.

Al-Fajr newspaper reported Sunday that more than 100 businessmen are expected to attend the Sunday iftar party.
