CAIRO: Egyptian authorities closed Rafah crossing Friday afternoon due to a lack of access of Palestinians to reach it within the Gaza Strip, Maan reported.

A number of sources said injured Palestinians cannot reach the crossing because of the Israeli army’s ground assault that began Thursday.

An official in Rafah crossing told Maan 20 Egyptians had been stuck in the Palestinian side and they reached the Egyptian side with great difficulty.

Among Hamas’ terms to accept a ceasefire include the opening of the Rafah Border Crossing with international guarantees; Egypt’s Foreign Sameh Shoukry has said interference in Egypt’s administration of the crossing is a “red line.”
