CAIRO: At least 15 border guards in the Wadi Gedid governorate were killed by assailants in a “heavy weapons” attack on a security checkpoint Saturday afternoon.
Wadi Gedid Governor Mahmoud Ashmawy told Youm7 that ambulances and fire trucks had been provided.
The assailants remain unidentified. Three of them were reported dead in the attack.
Clashes erupted earlier in the town of Farafra as armed smugglers clashed with security forces, a military source told Youm7.
