Cairo to employ special security companies to control street vendors

CAIRO: The Cairo governorate will use special security companies to calm reported fighting between street vendors and the residents, General Mohamed Ayman Abd al-Tawab, the deputy governor of Cairo, told Youm7 Friday.

The Cairo governor Galal al-Saeed said previously this month that the street vendors to be moved to Turguman garage to meet the demands of the citizens and traders who have seen them as a nuisance.

Al-wafd newspaper reported last June that one vendors was killed as a result of riots in Giza, also other clashes happened during the dispersals in Haram and Faisal.

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi has stated a number of times he would work with the Ministry of Interior to reduce the number street vendors, which have increased following the January 25 Revolution.
