CAIRO:  The exports of agricultural products from Egypt increased to 3.8 million tons, Youm7 reported Wednesday.

Mohameed Refaat, the head of the Central Administration of Plant Quarantine, affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture, told Youm7 that this is the highest increase in Egypt’s exports to 25 countries in three years.

The administration issued a statement at the beginning of July that the exports of potatoes during the current year to the European Union and Gulf reached about 673,000 tons.

According to the Delegation of the European Union to Egypt, more than 30 percent of Egypt’s exports are directed to the EU’s member states, and 7.4 of those are agricultural products.

Minister of Industry Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour said in September 2013 that the agricultural exports in Egypt increased by 20 percent during fiscal year 2012/2013, reported MENA.
