ALGIERS: An Egyptian national was among the passengers on an Air Algerie flight that went missing over northern Mali early Thursday.

The plane, flying from Burkina Faso to Algeria, was carrying 116 people, including 110 passengers and six crew members, Air Algerie said in a press statement.

More than six hours after the flight was scheduled to arrive at Algiers, the plane had reportedly crashed, Algerian airport authorities said but did not provide any details of the location of the plane or the cause of the crash.
