CAIRO: The death toll of Rafah explosion has risen to 4 after a mortar shell struck a house in the town of Al-Mahdeya in south Rafah in North Sinai near the Gaza-Egypt border, Youm7 reported Saturday.

A medical source added that the victims were Gomaa Halil, 39, his wife Mariam Eid, along with Adnan Salem, 10, and Zinab Halil, 4.

“I was living a nightmare when I heard that a mortar shell hit the house with my family inside. I ran to find them but unfortunately the house was completely destroyed with them beneath it, and the ambulance came late, more than 3 hours after the blast” Salim Halil, a surviving family member  told Youm7 Saturday.

Youm7 reported earlier than only two children were killed and three other people were injured after a mortar shell hit their house in the town of Al-Mahdeya in south Rafah in North Sinai near the Gaza-Egypt border.

Palestinian Al-Quds also news reported that four children were killed in the attack, which was allegedly conducted by armed gangs targeting Egyptian security forces.

The attack took place in Al-Goura, northern Sinai, close to a U.N. peacekeeper camp.
