CAIRO: Minister of Urban Development and Slums Leila Iskander Monday confirmed that she is going to participate in a campaign to develop slums on Monday morning. The campaign will be held at the Cement Company Club in Kafrolow slum in Helwan, Youm7 said Sunday.
The Global Network for Rights and Development and its Egyptian associate Maat Center for Peace, Development and Human Rights will hold the campaign. The good intentions ambassador of the International network, Carole Samaha, will attend the campaign launch tomorrow along with a number of residents and representatives of the area, Youm7 added.
The Global Network said in a statement that the campaign aims at helping establish cooperation between social and international efforts to develop slums. Samaha will also listen to problems and demands of residents of the area.
The Global Network for Rights and Development was established in 2008 and aims at developing new policies and strategies to protect human rights.
