CAIRO: Wednesday will be the last day for Metro stations to operate for 21 hours, Youm7 reported.

Deputy Chairman of Metro stations Mohamed Badawy announced on June 21 that the working hours of Metro stations will be extended for one hour during the Holy month of Ramadan starting from June 29.

The Head of Metro stations announced Wednesday that the working hours will return starting from Thursday to work from 5 am until 1 am which totals to 20 working hours.

During Ramadan, work started at Metro stations from 5 a.m. and ended at 2 a.m.

The three-hour service gap in the morning was allocated to intensive maintenance work, according to Badawy.

The second stage of Cairo’s third metro line (Abbasiya-Heliopolis) project was reinitiated by former Interim President Adly Mansour and Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab in May.
