CAIRO: A U.N. peacekeeper soldier was injured after being shot in Sheikh Zuwayed in North Sinai, Youm7 reported Monday.

Officials said the soldier is American.

The victim received medical assistance at the camp where they are stationed and the gunmen have yet to be identified, Youm7 said.

Security forces raided the North Sinai cities of Sheikh Zuwayed, Arish and Rafah earlier on Monday and arrested at least 20 suspects, Youm7 reported a military source saying.

On a further note, medical sources in North Sinai told the press Sunday that a child was killed, and four others were injured, all members of the same family, in a rocket attack. The source of the rocket was not identified

U.N. peacekeeper camps in North Sinai have been under threat in the ongoing armed conflicts between the Egyptian military and militants groups. On July 26, a mortar shell fell near a U.N. peacekeeper camp near Al-Goura in Rafah, killing two children and a married couple.
