Assailants attacked Boulaq el-Dakrour police station in Cairo twice this week. Today, three different attackers threw a bomb at the station, and another attacker bombed it on Saturday. Policemen are searching for the assailants.
Egypt’s Interior Ministry denounced the continuous “fierce assaults” on police stations in the wake of President Mohamed Morsi’s ouster in July.
A security source at the Interior Ministry said, “criminals insist on targeting police stations.” Regarding today’s incident, he said, “three unknown assailants on a motorcycle threw a homemade explosive bomb from the top of Mehwar Bridge toward the back gate of Boulaq Dakror police station and fled.”
The source added that civilians were injured while working on restorations in the building. They were moved to a hospital to receive medical care.
Another official source stressed that Boulaq investigation officers are chasing an unknown person attacked the station Saturday, injuring one civilian.
The source added that the bomb thrown at the police station resulted in limited damage to the station’s facade but no loss of life or injuries among the officers or personnel.
