‘Cairo Airport City’ to be opened in 2025

CAIRO:”Cairo Airport City” project will be accomplished on three phases that are scheduled to end in 2025 with total investments amounting to 80 billion EGP, according to Chairman of the “Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation”Mahmoud Esmaat, Mubasher reported Friday.

His statements came during a press conference held in the headquarters of the company, where he explained the project would include commercial zones around the airport, based on cabinet decision number 3118 of year 2009.

“Cairo Airport City” will boast a logistic zone with recreational areas including holders and conference centers, Esmaat pointed out that the project will provide 30 thousand direct job opportunities.

The project will require a subway line that extends to the airport with a total value of one billion EGP sponsored by the Ministry of Transportation, whichis conducting studies to ensure facilitating transportation to and from the city.

Esmaat said that the company is now conducting studies to make sure that the project will not affect air traffic movement and the safety of passengers during landing and takeoff.

The Holding Company Chairman added that the cargo zone in “Cairo Airport City” would turn Cairo Airport into an axial airport in the Middle East, according to al-Bawabah News Friday.

He also said that work in the project is to start in six months, according to el-Mal Thursday, indicating that studies of the project were made on five stages to study investment opportunities, costs, finance, and marketing in addition to environmental studies.

Esmaatpointed out that they are coordinating with different ministries and authorities regarding the infrastructure of the project, in addition to coordinating with the police regarding surrounding roads.
