CAIRO: Minister of Trade Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour will head to Sudan Tuesday to promote economic cooperation and investment opportunities, according to the Ministry of Trade’s website.
Abdel Nour is scheduled to meet with a number of Sudanese government officials to discuss economic relations between the two countries.
“The minister is set to negotiate with Sudanese Minister of trade Osman Al-Sharif the establishment of a joint land transport system between Sudan, South Sudan and Egypt along with the signing of a triple parties’ agreement,” an inside source at the Ministry of Trade told The Cairo Post Monday.
Abdel Nour is also set to discuss exchanging trade missions between the countries, the source added.
“The visit is part of government efforts to boost mutual cooperation with the African countries, especially neighboring countries,” the source added.
In related news, Abdel Nour met Monday morning with South Sudanese Ambassador to Egypt Anthony Kon to discuss increasing trade between the two countries and removing investment obstacles, Al-Borsa reported Monday.
During the meeting, Abdel Nour discussed with Kon the establishment of an exhibition for Egyptian products in the South Sudanese capital Juba, along with the formation of a joint business council between the two countries.
