CAIRO: Hawidro band will perform at the Geneina Theater in Azhar Park on Aug. 29 at 8:30 p.m.
The band was founded in 2008 when its members decided to create a new musical genre that expresses the unity of Egyptians. They will perform songs that mix international and African musical tones.
Hawidro is Nubian for “return” to celebrate the “beautiful Nubian culture that was forgotten for too long,” according to the band’s Facebook page.
They said with their music they celebrate African origins “with love, passion, and pride.”
