CAIRO: The Egyptian Embassy in Berlin will receive samples of Khufu Cartouches Friday, which were stolen by German researchers a year ago, according to Youm7.

Two amateur German archaeologists took samples of Khufu’s cartouche from three important areas at the Pyramids and smuggled them into Germany for research in Nov 2013, according to MENA.

Minister of Antiquities Mohamed El-Damaty expressed his appreciation to the German government for their sincere cooperation with Egypt in a press statement. He praised the role of all Germans involved.

Damaty said the German government’s cooperation was a reaction to Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs taking necessary legal action to return the samples seized from the Pyramid of Khufu and proceedings on the legal measures to sue the two archeologists.

He said the theft incident were referred to the Attorney General for investigation and also addressed UNESCO to take necessary measures against the German researchers.
