CAIRO:The building of the Maadi municipal council was set on fire earlier Saturday morning after unknown persons threw Molotov cocktails at it, said the head of the municipal to Youm7.

Civil Protection forces controlled the fire, which caused the second and third floors in the building to burn, added Ibrahim Saber, head of the Maadi municipal.

Eyewitnesses told Youm7 that the assailants were driving a 7-person Suzuki vehicle, before they stepped out of the car and threw Molotov cocktails and flaresat the building.

One of the residents was injured and was transferred to the hospital after the assailants threw flares at him when he tried to stop them from burning the building.

The criminal and forensics lab headed to the fire site to investigate the circumstances and reasons behind the incident.
