CAIRO: Eighteen Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza at dawn Thursday when a civilian building was targeted in Rafah City, Palestinian Ministry of Health spokesperson Ashraf Al-Qodra said his Twitter account.

Eyewitnesses told Sky News that F-16 fighter planes targeted the building and dozens were killed and injured.

Israel’s military campaign in Gaza may be an extended operation, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at a news conference in Tel Aviv on Wednesday. The war in Gaza started on July 8 and “will continue as a campaign to restore calm and safety” to Israeli citizens, Reuters reported Thursday.

One AFP photojournalist said Hamas members prevented him from taking pictures in the damaged area and at the hospital where the injured were sent to, Sky News reported.

The death toll of Palestinians reached 2,065 and over 10,254 were injured, Qodra said.
