CAIRO: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi is scheduled to welcome Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra in Ithadeya Presidential Palace Sunday to discuss the situation in Libya, ONA reported Saturday.

President Sisi will discuss the results of his previous visit to Algeria late June and his meeting with the Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika along with its results such as agreements to expand economic cooperation between Egypt and Algeria, especially with respect to energy and natural gas, the outlet reported.

The Ministry of Petroleum recently contracted with Algerian-owned company Sonatrach to buy three liquefied oil freights monthly at a total value of 500,000 cubic meters, a source at the Ministry of Petroleum told Youm7 mid-July.

The monthly freights will be directed to electricity plants to meet the growing needs of power within the high temperatures and to avoid frequent power cuts, he said.

Algeria was the first country Sisi visited after being sworn in in June, and at the time presidential spokesperson Ehab Badawy said the visit represented a “remarkable leap” in bilateral relations.
