CAIRO: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received Sunday the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ramtane Lamamra, who delivered a letter from Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, in which Bouteflika highlighted the importance of strengthening diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Sisi welcomed Bouteflika’s eagerness for a top level summit between Egyptian and Algerian ministers planned for October, Youm7 reported. The summit follows a meeting between former Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy and Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal in May during a Non-Aligned Movement ministerial conference.
Sisi discussed with Ramtane a number of regional issues, topped by the ongoing Gaza-Israel war and the situations in Libya, Syria and Iraq.
The Ministry of Petroleum has a contract with Algerian-owned Sonatrach to buy fuel shipments, among many other agreements between the two countries to expand economic cooperation.
