CAIRO: The Cairo Criminal Court adjourned Tuesday the retrial of former Minister of Interior Habib al-Adly and former Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif to Sept. 28 in the “license plates” case, Youm7 reported.

The court in July 2011 had sentenced Nazif to a 1-year suspended sentence, former Minister of Finance Youssef Boutros-Ghali to 10 years in absentia, Adly to a 5-year imprisonment and the CEO of the German company Utsch International Ltd., Helmut Jungbluth, to a 1-year suspended sentence, Al-Masry Al-Youm reported Tuesday.

All suspects were fined 92 million EGP ($12.8 million) in addition to repaying the government 92 million EGP.

The court found the suspects guilty of wasting 92 million EGP of public money through entrusting Utsch to produce license plates by direct order for prices more expensive than the market price, El-Balad reported Tuesday.
