CAIRO: U.S. House Armed Service Committee chairperson Rep. Howard P. Buck McKeon arrived Monday in Cairo with a congressional delegation in a three-day visit to discuss the development of the Middle East especially Israel-Palestinian case, Youm7 reported.
McKeon and the delegation come following a visit to Israel where they met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and discussed the conflict between Israel and Hamas which began in early July.
In his Thursday meeting with Netanyahu, McKeon highlighted the military cooperation between Israel and the United States, according to a statement from Netanyahu’s official Facebook page; “we’re happy with the work we’ve been able to do, working with you on Iron Dome and how you’ve used it to protect human life. And we will keep that bond and that friendship and that special relationship that we have forever,” McKeon said.
According to a statement from the Cairo International Airport issued Monday the U.S. Secretary of State for International Security Affairs and nonproliferation Thomas Countryman will arrive in Egypt Monday to discuss regional.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry called U.S. counterpart John Kerry Saturday evening to discuss the latest developments on the situation in Israel and Palestine, the ministry stated.
