CAIRO: Three alleged Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis (ABM) members were killed in Rafah inside a truck equipped with an anti-craft missile, and eight suspects were arrested, security sources in North Sinai told Youm7 Monday.

A fourth ABM member was killed on a motorcycle, and they were all masked and dressed in camouflage, the sources said.

Military spokesperson Mohamed Samir said Monday that security forces killed four extremists Sunday and six more Saturday after they shot at the forces during raids on “terrorist hubs.”

Samir added that 17 suspects were arrested, and 18 tunnels were destroyed.

In January, ABM released a video of their downing of a military helicopter in North Sinai, an attack that killed five soldiers.

In related news, an explosive device placed near a military checkpoint in Cairo’s Heliopolis district was neutralized Monday.
