  • Haram prosecution has detained four suspects for 15 days pending charges over allegations they are affiliated with the Islamic State group (IS).

Dozens of workers at the Delta Factory for Iron and Steel in east Shubra el-Kheima started a strike Wednesday and detained the board of directors chair as they demanded to be rehired and receive full workers rights.

  • Some 130 people suffocated and fainted after a chlorine gas leak at a water station in Gerga in the Sohag governorate. All but 15 of the afflicted have recovered, and those 15 have remained at a hospital.
