CAIRO: Thirteen persons, including a police officer, were injured after a homemade bomb detonated in the vicinity of the High Judiciary Court headquarters near a metro station in Cairo Tuesday evening, Youm7 reported.
A woman and her two-year-old daughter were among the injured people who were immediately transported to the Red Crescent hospital in Ramses.
Security forces were heavily deployed in the vicinity of the headquarters in Esaaf Square, near downtown, and combed the area in anticipation of any possible explosions.
France 24 reported that the Soldiers of Egypt militant group announced its responsibility for the incident.
Metro operations have not affected by the explosion, as it was outside Gamal Nasser station, Metro Company Chairman Ali Fadaly told Youm7 Tuesday.
The incident coincided with an explosion on the Arish gas pipeline for the 26th time since the January 25 Revolution. The attack was carried out by unidentified persons, Youm7 reported.
The head of the police explosives team Haitham Shehatah found a fake bomb outside the Zagazig Criminal Court in Sharqia governorate Wednesday morning which caused panic among people, explosives experts told Youm7.
