CAIRO: Sohag residents surrounded a local police station in anger after a bystander was fatally shot as police pursued a suspect for an unknown crime Saturday night, Youm7 reported.
Eyewitness told Youm7 that the residents started throwing stones at the station, and police retaliated with tear gas to disperse the crowds.
Another man was killed in Menoufiya governorate Oct.10, Youm7 reported, after a stray gunshot allegedly fired by the police.
The victim was accused of harassing a local woman, which led to a fight between the families of the accused and the accuser.
A police officer interfered to break up the fight, when he reportedly accidentally shot the man who died after being transferred to the hospital.
Youm7 added that the family of the deceased surrounded the police station, which also used tear gas to disperse the crowd.
