CAIRO: A 9-year-old was killed Friday during clashes that took place in Matariya in North Cairo between residents and alleged Muslim Brotherhood members, Youm7 reported.
The Ministry of Health said in a statement the child was killed during the clashes and that the death was referred to the prosecution for investigations.
Eyewitnesses said that one of the residents fired a shotgun from his balcony to disperse demonstrators, but mistakenly shot the child, Al-Bawaba news reported.
It was mentioned that the boy’s family went to the shooter’s house to seek revenge, but police forces stopped them.
Separate pro-MB marches across Egypt escalated into riots and clashes with security forces in Helwan, Haram and Talbia, according to Youm7.
Pro-MB protests and marches following Friday prayers have become common and even routine in Egypt following the summer 2013 military ouster of former President Mohamed Morsi.
