CAIRO: If you have a bike, you can participate in the the 2014 Orange Bike Day Nov.7 organized by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Zamalek, Cairo.
The event, which was also held last year, aims to raise awareness on bicycle riding as an environmental friendly means of transportation, a practice that is still limited in Cairo.
In a bike marathon last June, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi promoted the idea to encourage Egyptians to ride bike to schools and work to save money and energy consumption.
The Dutch embassy’s marathon requires neither participation fees nor prior registration. The embassy will not provide bikes.
Time: Friday, Nov. 7. From 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Location: Embassy of the Netherlands, 18 Hassan Sabry St, Abu Al Feda, Zamalek, Cairo.
