CAIRO: Students at Ain Shams University students will hold the university’s first Model European Union, to be conducted in three languages -Arabic, English and French- said Mahinour Mohamed, the group’s spokesperson.
Mohamed said the activity is meant to encourage new skills through studying how the European Union works.
“We train them to make presentations and any other basics could be needed to apply for a job,” Mohamed told The Cairo Post.
This year the model will be consisted of two committees: the academic, headed by Mohab Saeed, and the organizing committee headed by Hassan Mohi.
The club includes four simulations of different EU institutes, and meetings are conducted in different languages. The European Investment Bank (EIP) is an economic council conducted in English; the European Parliament discusses foreign relations under Unified European Constitution in English.
The two other committees are the European Court of Human Rights, in French, and the Euro-Mediterranean Council, conducted in Arabic.
The university is planning to begin registering students from Nov. 15 who are interested in joining the club.
Ain Shams University has hosted a Model United Nations club since 2007, and has signed a partnership with the Model United Nations club in Hamburg.
