CAIRO: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi started Monday his first European tour since he was elected in June.
Sisi started his tour in Italy, where he will meet with his counterpart Giorgio Napolitano in a closed session before he and his accompanying delegation will hold talks with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni, presidential spokesperson Alaa Youssef said in a statement Sunday evening.
The Egyptian delegation will then hold talks with Italian Senate President Pietro Grasso.
Sisi will later meet with Roman Catholic Pope Francis I and Vatican City Prime Minister Pietro Parolin Monday to discuss religious dialogue and humanitarian and development issues.
Sisi will then head Tuesday to France where he will discuss bilateral and international issues with his French counterpart François Hollande Wednesday. He will also meet with French businessmen and representatives of major tourism companies.
