CAIRO: The EGX opened with downward sideways movement Tuesday, and closed with a drop of 1 percent on the benchmark index EGX30, registering 9,482 points, down from  9,577 points at open.

The EGX70 index also opened with a drop, and lost 1.23 percent of its value Tuesday, registering 629 points, down from the Monday close of 637.

Last week the exchange showed mixed performance, and market capitalization shed around 2 billion EGP ($280 million.) Egypt’s market lost  ground for three consecutive sessions rattled by local unrest following a final court ruling that dropped charges against former President Hosni Mubarak over the killing of protesters during the 2011 January 25 Revolution.
