Egypt condemns Peshawar school attack

CAIRO: Egypt strongly condemned the Tuesday’s terrorist attack on an army-run school in Pakistan’s city of Peshawar that killed 145 people, almost all of them students, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Badr Abdel Atty said in a statement Wednesday.

Seven Taliban militants, wearing vests of explosives, reportedly entered the school using the ladder, opened the fire at random and burned some of female teachers in front of the students in a classroom, AP reported.

“Egypt offers its condolences to the Pakistani government and the families of the victims of the tragic incident and wishes a quick recovery for the injured,” according to the statement.

Asim Saleem Bajwa, Director General of Pakistan’s Inter Service Public Relation (ISPR) told Time of Pakistan newspaper that 960 children have been rescued from the school.
