CAIRO: Egypt offers its sincere condolences to the Indonesian government and people over the crash of AirAsia flight with 162 passengers on board, according to a statement of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Wednesday.
“Egypt offers its condolences to the families of the victims of the ill-fated Air Asia plane,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Badr Abdel Atty said in the statement.
On Tuesday, Reuters reported that Indonesia’s AirAsia Flight QZ8501 had vanished from radar screens on Sunday morning on its way from Indonesia to Singapore, with 162 passengers. The debris of the plane is being pulled out of the waters of the Java Sea off Borneo.
Several media outlets reported conflicting numbers of the victims since the crash in Sunday morning. Most of the passengers on board were from Indonesia, with others from South Korea, Malaysia and France.
