CAIRO: The Ministry of Religious Endowments warned of “sinful plans of terrorist groups”, including the banned Muslim Brotherhood (MB) group, to destabilize Egypt.
In a statement released on Friday and days before the fourth anniversary of the January 25 Revolution, the ministry said that MB “works with all its strength to destabilize the country, implement schemes to destroy the nation in the interest of the Zionist enemy.”
The statement comes following the Anti-Coup Alliance’s call on Egyptians to take to the streets on 25 January in a mass protest dubbed “March towards Freedom and Dignity.”
The statement said that the MB, along with all other affiliated Islamist groups, are attempting to incite people with “factional demands” to “kidnap the nation.” It added that “such tricks will not fool the Egyptian people again.”
Security forces have cracked down on the MB since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013.
