Egyptian Mindy Mohammed was crowned Miss Arab USA for 2013. Mindy is 24 years old and a resident of Pennsylvania, although she was born in Rhode Island.
Egyptian businessman Ashraf Jamal said, “Mindy Mohammed is the first Muslim woman to win the competition since it began in 2010.” The title the first year was won by Chicago-born Lebanese woman Jennifer Shahood, and Palestinians the next two years: 22-year-old Christiana Ravaidya, born in Chicago, and Suzan Zaid, a 26-year-old who was born in St. Louis and resided in Arizona.
