“Terrorist” killed, 2 injured in Alexandria due to bomb blast

CAIRO: One “terrorist” was killed, two injured and one arrested in Alexandria as they were trying to place a bomb near a gas station Tuesday morning, according to Youm7.

The bomb detonated during the alleged terrorist attempt, and they were all hospitalized after the arrest, Youm7 reported.

On Monday, a cleaning woman found two bombs in a ladies bathroom at City Stars Mall in Nasr City. The woman found a threatening message with the explosives addressing President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi’s supporters.

“Wait for the surprise. Support coup. 7:00 p.m.,” the message read.

The cleaning woman reported the explosives to security guards, and the police and evacuated the mall to neutralize the explosives and scan the building with bomb detectors.

The forces watched the films of all installed surveillance cameras in order to find the suspects who were inside the mall at the time of the incident. All streets around the mall were also closed to protect citizens, according to Youm7.

Early on Tuesday morning, a bomb was defused at Rabaa Al-Adawiya Square in Nasr City, Youm7 reported.

In the same context, clashes broke out Sunday night in Matria distract in Cairo, as the Interior Ministry reported several groups blocking roads using Molotov and birdshots.

About 11 armored vehicles were reported to have been deployed in Mataria to control the situation, forcing the demonstrators to end their protests. The clashes in the area have been ongoing since Jan. 24, one day before the the Fourth anniversary of the January 25 Revolution.

The death toll of the fourth anniversary amounted to 23, and 97 were injured, according to a Monday Ministry of Health report.
