CAIRO: A Russian precedential delegation arrived in Egypt Sunday to prepare for an expected visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin within days, Youm7 reported.
President Sisi made his first visit to Russia in August 2014, soon after his June election. He reached deals with his Russian counterpart to create a free trade zone with Eurasian countries and discussed a Russian industrial zone in Egypt as part of the Suez Canal Axis project.
In a news conference between both presidents held in Sochi, Russia last year, Putin said that his country would consider a free trade zone with Egypt.
Prime Minster Ibrahim Mahlab announced Saturday that the government, along with the president, is exerting “great effort” preparing for an economic summit scheduled to begin in March.
Russian investments in Egypt amounted to $65.62 million in January 2013, with 383 Russian companies investing in Egypt according t,o the Egyptian State Information Service (SIS). Meanwhile, Egyptian investments in Russia amounted to $13.7 million in December 2012.
